RAW SERMON TRANSCRIPT: Why do Great Pastors Have Evil Sons (Part 2), with Daniel Whyte III, President of Gospel Light Society International
Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, family, friends, and foes—and yes, even foes in the family. They do exist, as Jesus predicted they would. However, I do thank God for all of my children, my quiver full of children who have helped me in the ministry throughout their lives.
And I thank the Lord even for my oldest daughter, Daniella “Danni” Whyte, for sending an offering to help in the ministry this past week, as she has done in many different ways down through the years—and all of my children have done. I give God the glory, the praise, and the honor for that.
And thank you so much for your gifts, Dr. 103 and others. Please turn in your Bibles, my friends, to the book of First Samuel. This is not a fun message to deal with, but somebody has to deal with it. I started it yesterday and gave you a brief introduction. This is a real issue. An age-old issue.
Turn your Bibles, ladies and gentlemen, to 1 Samuel, Chapter 2. 1 Samuel, Chapter 2, Verse 12. And then hold your finger, if you will, as the old preachers used to say, at First Samuel, Chapter 8, Verses 1 through 3.
An age-old problem.
Now the sons of Eli, the great priest. Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial. Wicked boys, wicked young men. Basically, the sons of the devil. And here is the kicker: THEY KNEW NOT THE LORD. If you don’t know the Lord, there’s no way in the world you’re going to do right in the ministry.
And just because your father was a great priest does not make you a great priest or Christian—even or a believer.
That’s 1 Samuel Chapter 2, Verse 12. And it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. Notice the word made. There have been many fathers who set up their sons and made them into preachers, but God didn’t make them into preachers.
Now the name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abiah. And they were judges in Bathsheba, and his sons walked not in his ways but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes and perverted judgment. And the sons of Eli committed fornication and adultery in the church’s door. Okay, so we have one set of sons who are perverted, sons of the devil. And then the second set, it was about the Benjamins.
And I am moved to preach on this tonight because sadly we have a modern-day story of a similar situation as we find here in the Holy Word of God. Dr. Lou Baldwin, a good man and a great pastor and founder of the Crossroads Baptist Church, is living out a similar situation that I just read to you from the Bible. Many others have lived it out as well. But I think about Dr. Lou Baldwin. He is a good man. And this is very painful to him.
One son has been charged with basically stealing nearly a million dollars from church folk—over $800,000 to be exact. And then one son is perverted, sexually speaking, with a demonic spirit of homosexuality and, on top of that, child molestation, pedophilia. And the church is reeling from this situation, not only the church, but Christians across America and people in general, because this is the kind of story that reaches the news, the newspapers, and the six o’clock news.
And so, ladies and gentlemen, I want to briefly continue to preach in your hearing, “Why do great pastors have evil sons?” So you will not think that I’m picking on this particular situation, even though it is very real and very graphic and very apropos.
First of all, you need to know, I thank God for Dr. Lou Baldwin. I still believe that he is a great man of God and did some great things. Okay, I still have a great deal of respect for him. I don’t have respect for his sons. And you will see why here shortly, based upon the Word of God. This is not about them; they just happen to be in the news, and their sad story has triggered this series.
But the truth of the matter is, my dad, Bishop Daniel Whyte Jr., was the most loving man I’ve ever met since, before, or since his death. And almost everybody would tell you the same thing. And God used him mightily to be one of the first Blacks to even have a television show focused on the gospel way back in the early 70s. And he was well known all across the region. But his son, Daniel Whyte III—that is, moi, that’s me—I have no doubt, was demon-possessed and demon-controlled. Sadly and unfortunately.
And you would think the things that I did, which was mainly fornication, partying hard, jam, jam, boogie, boogie, letting the good times roll, being the leader of the pack, whoremongering around, getting girls pregnant, and all such. And I was not saved. And I knew I was not saved. And everybody who knew me knew I was not saved. And I used to curse and swear that I would ever be a preacher like my dad. My dad was not trying to make me a preacher. I know my dad never thought I would ever be a preacher. I know my mother never thought that. And I used to curse and swear to my friends and girlfriends as they would kid me that one day you’re going to be a preacher like your dad. And I did not like that. So I would curse and swear that I would never be a preacher.
In fact, one day on the school bus on the way home to James City, I said, “I’m going to drive the bus to hell.” You know you got to be demon-possessed and controlled by the devil to say something so stupid. Thank God, God does not listen to our foolishness. And because God saved me years later, by His grace, by His mercy, and by His love, He saved my soul and changed my life. And now I have been preaching longer than my dad ever preached. I’ve traveled further to preach the gospel than my dad ever traveled. And I ended up preaching—and I’m still preaching the gospel for over 10 years straight every day, oftentimes twice a day, three times a day. Today is twice.
And so that’s how God works in His mercy and grace. Nobody thought Paul would get saved, and he was persecuting the church and killing people, putting them in jail. Nobody thought Paul would get saved, much less become the leader of Christianity to this day. And so that’s just how God works, and that’s how He does things. And my salvation was an Apostle Paul-type turnaround salvation experience. I mean, just totally, Jesus just totally changed my life. And He would do the same for you.
So this is not just about Dr. Lou Baldwin. I was that son that no doubt embarrassed my dad and my mother, both church people. But don’t give up on your children if they’re lost. They can get saved and be changed. But not only that, ladies and gentlemen, I thank God for how my children have helped me in the ministry down through the years. You hear their names all of the time because God really used them. Okay?
And… but I have two sons. I have three sons. And I have three sons. And right now, none of them are burning down the woods for Jesus. Pardon me, everybody. Just checking out something. Okay. So, I mean, they have helped me tremendously in the ministry by the grace of God. And I thank God for that. But they’re not burning down the woods for Jesus tonight. Okay, so this is—I’m saying all of that. Thank God they’re not doing things like sending penis pictures to children, molesting children, or defrauding folks of their money, totaling over $800,000. So there is a difference. But… they’re not as fired up for serving the Lord as they could be.
So I’m saying that to make sure you understand that nobody is picking on anybody. This is an age-old issue and an age-old problem. Okay? And it’s always been a question: Why do the preacher’s children act so terrible? Especially the boys. Okay? It is an issue. It’s an age-old issue. And I have given some thought to this. And this may sound kind of funny to you.
Ladies and gentlemen, for some reason, we got several things going on here right now. And so bear with me. God is good anyhow. And then we can get down with it here shortly, by the grace of God. Okay? And so let’s be real about it.
But this may sound kind of funny to you, but I think it’s something to consider. Could it be that… Well, let me just say this. Somewhere there’s a devil down the line in the lineage. And it may be on your side of the family, or it can be on your wife’s side of the family. Okay? It may be a generational curse. And I’m preaching to you, but something came up that I have to deal with, unfortunately. And the generational curse may be on your side of the family or on your wife’s side of the family? Mr. Ron?
We have a lot going on where I’m at.
Okay? I mean, it does not matter. I do know that on my side of the family, the major sin is fornication and adultery, whoremongering around, whoring around. And the main issue on my wife’s side of the family is lying and stealing and having a demonic Judas spirit where they have a hatred for the work of the ministry. It’s a demonic spirit. You would only know it if you experienced it. So some of these things come down from both sides of the family. And I thank God that my children have not taken after me and my side of the family, but that Judas spirit is just as bad in that lying and stealing. It’s just as bad. And so I brought that up only to say, ladies and gentlemen, you might—gentlemen—raise your children well. And somewhere along the line, seem like they’re doing good. And then later on in life, somewhere along the line, they just lose it. And they choose to do evil as their ancestors have done. It’s just a thought.
Now, more importantly, let’s get into the Word. By way of introduction, there is a question that has haunted the people of God from the days of the tabernacle at Shiloh until this very hour. It is whispered in church hallways, wept over at kitchen tables, and pondered in the secret chambers of every faithful pastor’s heart. Ladies and gentlemen tonight, with over 2,400 with us, the question is this: Why do great pastors—why do men who have led thousands to the throne of grace—sometimes fail to lead the boys at their own supper table to the throne of grace and to be out-and-out born-again saved Christians? Why does the fire that falls on the pastor’s pulpit so often fail to fall on the parsonage or the family home?
This is not a modern question. Before there was ever a church house in America, this tragedy was already written in the Word of God. Not once, but twice. Once with a father who was not a good father. And then the second time with a man who was a good father. Go figure. Back to back, in the same generation, in the same book. Eli was the high priest of Israel, the man who wore the ephod and stood before the mercy seat. Samuel was the greatest judge and prophet of his era, one of the greatest men in the Bible, a man of whom the scripture says the Lord did let none of his words fall to the ground. That means everything he predicted came to pass (1 Samuel Chapter 3, Verse 19).
Two great men of God, two houses of God’s servants, and four ruined sons. Hophni and Phinehas, Joel and Abiah, all of whom perished or disappeared into disgrace in history. When you hear the names Eli, Hophni, and Phinehas, these names have a negative ring. So does Joel and Abiah, but not Samuel, the great prophet and the great judge who led the children of Israel at one of the most difficult times and junctions in their history and did it well. All of them perished or disappeared into disgrace—those four sons—and whose sins shook a whole nation.
I want you to notice something remarkable. Samuel grew up watching Eli’s sons destroy themselves. As a boy in the tabernacle, little Samuel heard the whispers about Hophni and Phinehas who were raping the girls at the church door. He was the very one who delivered God’s message of judgment against Eli’s house. And yet, decades later, Samuel’s own sons walked the same broad road to ruin. The man who saw the disease up close, if you will, was not immune to it. That ought to sober every one of us. No pulpit, no title, no anointing, no degree, and no godly heritage exempts a man’s household from the assaults of sin and Satan.
Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, from these two texts, I want to give you three answers from the Word of God to this age-old, shocking question and reality: “Why do great pastors have evil sons (and some have evil daughters too)?”
First, ladies and gentlemen, because grace is not genetic. Second, because the fathers failed to restrain their sons. And third, because the devil takes deadly aim at the preacher’s house, knowing that when he ruins the parsonage, he can destroy a whole nation.
Point Number One: Because Grace is Not Genetic.
Salvation cannot be inherited. Just because your father was a prophet, just because your father was a pastor, does not mean that that carries over to the sons. And sadly, many people have thought this. And quite frankly, one of the tragedies of life in the church has been fathers passing down to their sons their churches that they started, that they pastored for a long time. It almost always ends in disaster and sin and wickedness and weakness. In fact, I’ve never seen a son take a work and do better than the father. They may have different gifts, but it hardly ever works.
Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial. Sons of the devil. They knew not the Lord. And that’s the key thing. 1 Samuel 2:12.
Shall we pray?
Holy Father God, I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, blessed and anointed, the reading of Your Holy Word and the preaching of Your Holy Word by the power of Your Holy Spirit. This is, Lord, as You know, not a rah-rah sermon that people like to hear. This is a sad message, as was the last series, because we’re dealing with sin in the lives of people who are supposed to be leaders of the church. So, Holy Father God, save those who are lost. Revive those who are saved. Heal those who are sick. Comfort those who are grieving and mourning.
We pray that You will come from the heart of Dr. Lou Baldwin, who many believe has done a great job, but Lord, only You know. And we pray for the salvation of his children—his sons and his children. We pray, Lord, that You will rebuke and bind the devil, his demons, and his host from the Lou Baldwin family. Cast out the devil and the demons of hell out of Michael Baldwin and Kenny Ball. Lord, open their blinded eyes and stop their deaf ears because evidently, according to the scriptures here tonight, they may very well be lost. They may not even know You.
So open their blinded eyes and stop their deaf ears and truly save their souls. And Lord, we pray for all fathers to do their part in raising their children to the best of their ability by Your grace. And Lord, open our eyes to see what’s really going on here. Save those who are lost and revive the saved, heal the sick, and comfort the grieving and the mourning indeed. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray and for His sake. Amen.
They knew not the Lord, the sons of Belial. Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord. And you see people when—we know people don’t know the Lord by their behavior, see? What they’re doing and what they’re known for. 1 Samuel 2, Verse 12.
Look closely at the diagnosis the Holy Ghost gives us. It does not say the sons of Eli were merely mischievous or immature, like we like to say in our modern times. “Oh, he’s just growing up. He’s a young man.” And well, by a certain time and by a certain age, we ought not to say things like that. Kenny Baldwin may not look like he’s almost 50, but he’s almost 50. Just because he preaches mostly to children and young people. Brother Mark, so glad to have you tonight. Assume that your church services have ended. Thank you for being with us tonight and everybody. Thank you for being here on this special service and this sermon titled “Why Great Pastors Have Evil Sons.” We can’t just say they’re going through a rebellious season, but they’re too old for that.
It says they were sons of Belial, sons of the devil, sons of worthlessness, sons of wickedness, sons of evil, sons of foolishness. A term the Old Testament reserves for the most base and godless of men. And then comes the root of it all: They knew not the Lord.
These young men were born in the shadow of the tabernacle. They wore priestly garments. They handled holy things every single day. And therein lies a problem right there. Some young people who were raised in church and raised around holy things and the Word of God are some of the same children who will disrespect those things when they get older and not appreciate them. It is really a part of human nature. Some people become so familiar with the things of God, they express contempt for the things of God. And they have to deal with that before God Almighty if they do that.
Their hands were on the sacrifices, but their hearts had never been on the altar. It’s a similar situation with so-called rich kids, rich children. They’ve been around money all of their life, and so they don’t appreciate it. And they end up making a mess of things. They were religious professionals who were spiritual strangers to God. Their father served. They didn’t know God.
And so, ladies and gentlemen, here is the first great answer to our question. A man can give his son his name, his nose, his temperament, and his trade, but he cannot give his son his salvation. Grace, salvation does not run in the bloodline. And you need to understand that. Because, see, this is a problem across the country. Fathers trying to preserve their legacy, trying to preserve their money, in some cases trying to preserve their lives, want to pass their work down to their sons who are not even saved, who don’t know anything about what their fathers have truly done for the Lord because they don’t know the Lord.
The scripture declares which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Every generation must meet God for itself. Every person must trust in Jesus Christ themselves. Every son of a preacher must be born again just like his father was born again saved. God has many children, but He has no grandchildren.
And their unregenerate hearts showed themselves in their appetites. See, that’s the deal. Hophni and Phinehas seized the priest’s portion of the sacrifices by force before the fat was burned unto the Lord. Very dangerous, Mark. Very dangerous, Mark. Very dangerous, Dr. Ambassador. Very dangerous, Lynn. That’s my sister, may God bless you. Before the fat was burned unto the Lord. First Samuel Chapter 2, Verses 13 to 16. So that men abhorred the offering of the Lord, like many people abhor giving to the church today. Why? Because they know the fathers and the sons are using the money for their pleasure instead of for the ministry.
Worse still, they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. “Lay” means they had sex with. I get so tired of people lying, talking about “I slept with so and so.” There was no sleeping going on. People were committing fornication and adultery. These boys were committing fornication and adultery with the women of the church at the church’s door. Greed and lust—the two ancient wolves devoured them because there was no new nature within them to resist.
And ladies and gentlemen, that’s the crux of the problem in every area of life. In the home, in the marriage, in the family, in the church. In business, if people are not born again, they don’t even have anything in them to not do evil. There was no new nature within them to resist. And Samuel’s sons were cut from the same cloth. They turned aside after filthy lucre, after money, and took bribes and perverted judgment, the judgment of the Lord (1 Samuel 8).
Paul told Timothy the timeless truth: “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” An unconverted man in a holy office does not become holy. It reminds me of the story of the church down in South Carolina, a Southern Baptist Church. The pastor and his wife and everybody in charge knew that they were hiring a child molester, a registered child sex offender. They knew it and they kept their mouths shut. There’s something wrong with your salvation to do something so wicked, so evil, and so dangerous for your children at the church, and hide it and cover it up and lie about it until you got arrested. The office becomes his hunting ground.
Church history thunders the same warning. Consider one of the most sobering family lines in American history. Aaron Burr, Senior, was a godly minister of the gospel and president of the College of New Jersey, which we know today as Princeton University. He married the daughter of Jonathan Edwards, the great evangelist, the mighty preacher of the Great Awakening, the man God used to preach “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” Out of that union—a preacher for a father and the daughter of America’s greatest theologian for a mother—came a son, Aaron Burr, Jr. That grandson of Jonathan Edwards grew up to reject the faith of his fathers, to live a life of ambition and scandal, to shoot down Alexander Hamilton in a duel and to stand trial for treason against his own country. All of the revival fire of the Great Awakening flowed through and around that boy. But he became a disaster—Pardon me—to two of the greatest preachers in American and English history. But it never flowed into him because grace is not generational. It’s not passed down. You must believe in the Lord yourself, in your generation. It never flowed into him because grace is not genetic. Heritage can hand a man a Bible from his great-grandfather, but only the Holy Ghost can open his heart to that Bible. He must be born again.
So the first answer stands: great pastors have had evil sons because a father’s faith in God and in Jesus Christ cannot be deposited into a son’s account. You must be born again. And that includes the boys who grow up on the front pew of the church and who even help in the ministry while they’re growing up.
That’s point number one, ladies and gentlemen. If the Lord tarries, by the grace of God, I will do part three tomorrow and point number two tomorrow.
Shall we pray?
Holy Father God, I pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I praise You and thank You for putting on my heart this message, a message really that I have never heard preached before. But it certainly needs to be preached because so many fathers, preacher fathers, are making the mistake of passing down to their sons—who are normally sons of Belial—to cause great damage to the church and to the work and to the ministry. And so, Holy Father God, we pray tonight that everybody will realize, including preachers’ sons and preachers’ daughters, they must be born again. They must be born again saved, for real, to go on for You and to serve You effectively. Not perfectly, but effectively. And so, Holy Father God, save those who are lost and revive those who are saved, heal those who are sick, comfort those who are grieving and mourning. In Jesus Christ’s name I do pray and for His sake. Amen.
Closing Salvation Message and Call to Prayer
Now, dear friend of mine, if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, Jesus Christ said it first and best. He said the most important words in the history of the world when He said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Acknowledge that you too are a sinner. You have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The Bible says we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Red, yellow, black, and white—we are all precious in God’s sight. So much so, He sent His Son to suffer, to bleed and die on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose on the third day.
Understand that you’re going to die one day. We’re all going to die. Do you know something that all of the millions of people in the past have in common? They all died. And if they died in the past, they’re going to die in the present. And you’re going to die. I’m going to die. And the reason why we’re going to die is because of our sins that we’ve committed against God. Breaking His Ten Commandments. Lying on God, lying on people, stealing from God, stealing from people, lusting after people and things when God told us not to, because He can provide the same things for you. God is offended when you lust after things that He can provide for you, just like He has provided for other people. Disrespecting God, dishonoring God by taking His name in vain. Cursing with His name. Lying on His name. Trying to cover your behind by using His good name. Raising your right hand to God with your left hand on the Bible and you swear and lie on God’s holy name. God is going to get you for that. The Bible says that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.
And then after you die, you will go to the burning hell and you will spend eternity in the lake of fire if you reject Jesus Christ. If you refuse to believe in Him or you neglect to believe in Him—you may have intentions on doing so, but the road to hell, as they say, is paved with good intentions. Even in this life, many of us have good intentions but we never get around to it, and then we have to suffer the consequences.
So, dear friend, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Don’t worry about the failure of the pastor. Don’t worry about the failure of the priest or the bishop and their children. You keep your eyes on the prize and hold on. You keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. Don’t worry about what they’re doing. You take care of what you need to do. If they’re going to hell—and some of them are—you don’t have to go to hell. Believe in Jesus Christ and serve the Lord for the rest of your life.
Follow me in the sinner’s prayer. Repeat after me phrase by phrase and mean it from your heart:
Holy Father God, have mercy and grace upon my soul. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults, as I now believe in You, Lord Jesus Christ. Based upon Your holy Word, thank You for suffering and bleeding and dying on the cross for my sins as the Lamb of God who has taken away the sin of the world. Lord Jesus Christ, I believe in You. I trust in You and I have faith in You. Please come into my heart and into my spirit and save my soul from the burning hell. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me to change. Help me to repent of my sins. And help me to follow You in the newness of life. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray and for His sake. Amen.
Dear friends of mine, if you believed in your heart in the Lord Jesus Christ right where you are and you prayed the sinner’s prayer with me, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life, and that is sincerely believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for your soul’s salvation. You will be glad you did in praying and asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and to save your soul. It was the best thing I ever did in my life, December the 19th, 1979.
Next, get baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Find a good, reputable Bible-believing church in your area. I’ve already told you how to do that. And you call them, set up an appointment, take family members and family people and friends with you. Don’t go—I hate to say it, and I never thought I would have to—I would not go to any church today by myself, particularly if you are a female or a child. And it breaks my heart to have to say that. But there are many wolves lurking in churches today, and it may not be the pastor. It may be the pastor’s wife, it may be the pastor’s son—sons of Belial—perverted Sunday school teachers and nursery workers. I know people—the sweet evangelicals and Protestants and progressives don’t want me to tell the truth, but there’s some devils in the church, and so I cannot let you go somewhere without warning you. Sad. I never thought I would have to say the things I have to say today after 46 years of preaching the gospel. But be that as it may.
- Go and get baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
- Pray. Mr. Ruiz, so good to see you. Pray every day, three times a day at least, and even more times the Lord will teach you to pray without ceasing. But you need to start somewhere. Pray the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew chapter 6.
- Read the Bible every day along with prayer. Read at least one chapter a day, preferably three chapters a day. Start in the Gospel of John and then read out. Read the New Testament out at your pace and then read the Old Testament. We’re here every day willing to help you. Read through the Bible. I think it’s the most important thing that any person can do in this life.
- Be obedient to the Bible. For Jesus Christ said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
- Witness for the Lord. Tell other people about Jesus Christ. If you don’t have time and people don’t have time to talk to you, give them a gospel pamphlet. But give them a chance to get saved. Give them a chance to go to heaven.
God bless you, dear friends. Until next time, pray for me as I pray for thee. Remember the motto of the Marine, Semper Fidelis—be always faithful to the Lord. And remember the motto of the Air Force and the Space Force, Semper Supra—always above. Keep your heart and mind, stay on the Lord above, and He’ll keep you in perfect peace. God loves you and He is with you. God loves you and He is with you. Jesus Christ loves you, and He said He will never leave you nor forsake you. And Jesus Christ and God cannot lie, the Bible tells us. And we know that is true. And because of the love of God shed abroad in my heart is His love, I love you too in the Lord. And I will always remember you for what you do for the Lord and how you help in this ministry.
God bless you, dear friends. Until next time, pray for me as I pray for thee. Pray for Pastor Baldwin as well. Lord willing, we’ll see you soon.

He has preached the Gospel and the Word of God to millions of people around the world with the help of the internet, preaching live and on-demand multiple times a day for over ten years, to this very day. His mottos are “Crying in the Wilderness,” “Exiled on the Isle of Patmos,” and “Preaching the Gospel by any means necessary,” all for the glory of God and Jesus Christ.
Daniel Whyte III is the president of the over-40-year-old Gospel Light Evangelistic Society International and the over-37-year-old Gospel Light House of Prayer International. He is known worldwide as the prophet who predicted the Coronavirus Plague more than 10 years before it hit, in recorded preaching and writing. God also led him to guide thousands through the Coronavirus Plague that killed over 20 million people because of the sins in the Judas-Jezebel-Laodicean church.
Daniel Whyte III’s greatest blessing in this life is his “quiver full” of 10 children—Daniella (Danni), Daniel IV, Danita Evangeline, Danae Mary-Louise, Daniqua Grace, Danyel Ezekiel, Danyelle Elizabeth Breedlove, Danielle Tekeela, Duran-Daniel, and the first Daniel IV (deceased and in heaven with the Lord)—along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Daniel Whyte III has been unblissfully but sexually satisfyingly married to his first and only wife, Meriqua Whyte of Christiana, Jamaica, for over 37 years since December 19, 1987. Jesus Christ said: “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” Even though many evangelicals, charismatics, and Protestants try to act as if these words of Jesus Christ are not a reality in our modern Christianity—primarily because of the Satanic-driven prosperity gospel and an over-positive philosophy, which is a lie not based in reality or biblical truth—the words of Jesus Christ are true for every person who preaches the Gospel. The outcomes of the Gospel are a changed life and opposition from family, lukewarm Christians, Laodicean-Judas pastors and churches, the world, and the devil. This is a reality in our present evil world.
While Daniel Whyte III thoroughly enjoys his married life because he did not allow his wife to have her way at any point and was and is solidly, and biblically the head of his household throughout the marriage—often quoting Joshua, “As for me and my house, we’re going to serve the Lord” “up in here!”—and because his wife never failed in the very important area of sex, which he got married for in the first place to avoid sinning against God, he has especially enjoyed the privilege and joy of raising his children in the Lord virtually by himself. He served the Lord with them every day of their lives, from the time they were born until they graduated from college, became adults, and moved on.
However, his wife, Meriqua Whyte—motivated by Satan, with a Pharaoh-style pride mixed with the well-known female Jamaican-style pride, stubbornness, rebelliousness, and witchcraft—has been his greatest Judas enemy in the world and has been what Paul spoke of: a “messenger of Satan” and a “thorn in the flesh.” Amazingly, and by the grace of God, that Satanic evil opposition has spurred Daniel Whyte III on to preach the Gospel probably more times than any man on record. God has honored him because he did not “hearken to the voice of his wife.” Whyte tells other Christian men to only hearken to the voice of God and Jesus Christ—not to their wives, as so many thousands of church men have been taught by pastors and other older men throughout the years. Remember, we are in this worldwide, multi-generational mess because Adam hearkened to the voice of his wife and not to the voice of God.
Before they were married, Daniel Whyte III told his wife Meriqua Whyte that they would not do family life as her parents did, because their married life was hellacious and ended in divorce, as did some of her other family members, including the aunt she was living with. He also told his wife they would not do family life as his parents did, because it was also hellacious and out of order since his mother was the head of the household, not his father. But thanks be to God, they never got a divorce. Whyte told his wife before they got married that they were going to do it God’s way according to Ephesians chapters 5 and 6, or no way at all. And then he asked his wife, “Are you willing to do marriage God’s way according to Ephesians chapters 5 and 6?” And she said yes. Whyte told her before they got married that if she did not live up to her end of the deal, all bets were off.
Because Daniel Whyte III’s wife, Meriqua Whyte, was so proud, unsubmissive, stubborn, and rebellious after they got married, God led him to read Ephesians chapters 5 and 6 every day in their family devotions throughout their marriage. In the first year of their marriage, Daniel Whyte III also gave his wife a list of verses for women from the Word of God for her to read, which she still reads to this day. He also bought her many books to read to help her be the wife God wanted her to be.
Whyte realized early in the marriage that his wife was not a born-again, saved person, even though she lied and said she was before they got married. After over 37 years of marriage, she is still not saved, never bearing any fruit of a saved person, to the point of not even wanting to tell her children, “I love you,” and not wanting to hug them when they were little children, even after her husband told her to do so. She also hated the daily family devotions that her husband led and tried to hinder them. She also demonically hated and tried to hinder every Gospel preaching service to this very day.
However, only by the grace of God, they are still married, and despite the devil constantly working through his wife to try to hinder him from preaching the Word of God, he is still preaching the Gospel and the Word of God live and on-demand. His ministry reaches over 148,800 people per month with over 21,000 unique views per month, reaching 149 countries, preaching the Gospel and the Word of God in 2 to 3 services a day, 7 days a week. Glory be to God!
Mrs. Meriqua Whyte’s Apology to her Husband and Their 7 Children for not Being a Biblical Wife or Mother
Mrs. Meriqua Whyte, the Wife of Daniel Whyte III, Gave him the Best Father’s Day Gift Ever About 10 Years Ago When She Unexpectedly and Voluntarily Apologized for the First Time to Him and Their 7 Children for Not Being the Wife, Mother, and Christian Example of the Woman She Should Have Been Over the Past 37 Years of Marriage.
Here is what Mrs. Meriqua Whyte wrote ten years ago after verbally apologizing to the entire family on Father’s Day, right before church service:
Over thirty years of marriage. Over thirty years of ups and downs. Over thirty years of trying to make our problems a personal thing between my husband and me. Thankfully, he did not allow me to do that and kept telling me it was between God and me—over thirty years of acting on my feelings and not on what the Bible says. Over thirty years of refusing to obey God’s simple command to a wife—to be obedient to your husband in all things. Over thirty years of disobedience, rebelliousness, stubbornness, lying, and dishonesty, all rooted in pride. Over thirty years of simply not choosing to mature as a Christian.
God has been dealing with me for over thirty years now about changing my attitude and behavior as a wife, which has manifested itself in disobedience, rebelliousness, stubbornness, lying, dishonesty, having an ungodly attitude and spirit, and simply not being the wife, mother, or example of a Christian woman that I should have been throughout the years. (By the way, for those of you who may be thinking that my disobedience, rebelliousness, stubbornness, lying, and dishonesty have resulted in adultery, I will say here that I have never committed any adultery or had sex with another man besides my husband, Daniel Whyte III, since I was born.)
God kept telling me I needed to stop my rebellious and stubborn behavior, apologize to my husband and children, and get my heart right with him, my husband, and my children. He sent others my way to tell me how to behave:
- My husband, but I didn’t want to hear it from him.
- Other Christian women speakers
- Other preachers
- Books and other materials, but I would not take heed.
I knew what to do, but I chose not to do it. The devil had me thinking and believing—as he is having a lot of wives and mothers think and believe—that your relationship with your husband and how you respond to him, whether positive or negative, will not affect your relationship with your children or your relationship with God. I say without hesitation that this is one of the devil’s lies, and sad to say, many wives and mothers are falling for this lie.
Another lie of the devil that Christian wives are falling for is that you can still have a strong relationship with God without being submissive to your husband. Lie! Lie! Lie! There is no truth to this. I know because I have experienced this and am still experiencing it as I go through this breaking process, which is not happening overnight.
Even throughout my years of rebelliousness, stubbornness, and pride, I still kept praying the prayer I used to pray daily before I got married: “Lord, make me be exactly what You want me to be. Lord, break, make, and mold me into what You want me to be.” Well, God took that prayer seriously, and once you accept Him, He will begin the breaking process. It’s up to us how long that breaking process will take. For me, sad to say, it has taken over 30 years, and the breaking is not complete. In what way is God breaking me down right now? Well, our children have grown up. The three oldest have gone through and are still going through college, have gotten their degrees, and some are working on their second, third, and fourth degrees, launching their careers and moving out. God slapped me into reality and truly intensified the breaking process. My husband told me before our first child was born, and repeatedly while the children were young, that my job was to love our children and make positive memories with them, and that if I did that, I would have a wonderful relationship with them as adults in the time to come. Well, I disobeyed God and my husband, who did not let up on his duties. And he has a wonderful relationship with our children, even the girls, and I don’t. However, God led me to finally break down the day before Father’s Day, and while I was helping my husband get dressed to preach, I asked him if I could apologize to him and the entire family. That’s the first time I ever did that on my own. Throughout the years, he has always told me that I needed to get my heart right with God, him, and my children; otherwise, I would never have the joy and peace of the Lord in my life. However, I kept on lying and denying that I was the problem.
Here is what I said to my husband and children on Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017, the day before Father’s Day. My husband told the entire family that this was the best Father’s Day gift I have ever given to him:
“Daddy, children, I apologize for not being the wife, mother, and example of a Christian woman I should have been throughout the years. I have shown nothing but pride, disobedience, rebelliousness, stubbornness, and a bad attitude and spirit toward God and my husband in front of you. My disobedience and rebelliousness have caused much unnecessary unrest and upheaval in the family. As my husband told me, things could have gone much better if I had obeyed God’s word from the beginning. Please accept my apology, and I am asking you to forgive me.”
I brought the diminishing of peace and joy in my life on myself throughout the years. Not having a proper relationship with God, my husband, and my children, I brought on myself—all because I chose the disobedient route. My number one desire is to live a life of peace—peace with God, my husband, and my children. I have learned that peace will not come as long as I live in disobedience, rebelliousness, stubbornness, and pride.
I will end this with two notes: (1) Happy Father’s Day to my husband: you have been a great husband and father. (2) Happy Children’s Day to my children: You all have been great children. I have no complaints whatsoever against my husband and, of course, my children; you have never been at fault. My bad behavior is all on me, and I’m sorry I put you through this. May God bless your lives, and I love you.
Ephesians 5:22 – 6:20 (KJV)
Below is the passage in the Bible that Daniel Whyte III read in their family devotions every day for decades. It covers the biblical duties of the husband, the wife, and the children, and includes how to fight the devil, who seeks to destroy the family.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
The Gospel in a Nutshell
If you were to die today, where would you go: Heaven or Hell? If you’re not sure, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
Jesus Christ said the most important words ever spoken in the history of the world when He said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The Most Important Question in the World: Have You Been Twice Born?
This is the “Chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #447, titled “The Big Question.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says: that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.
“Have You Been Born Again?”
The question is not, “Have you joined a church?” or “Are you trying to do your best?” or “Do you have religion?” but, “Are you twice-born?” Jesus Christ said in John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
We enter the physical world by birth. Spiritual life, likewise, is entered with a birth. We become members of a human family by birth; we become members of the family of God by birth, by being “born again.” There is no other way to get into the human family except by birth, and there is no other way to get into God’s family except by the new birth. Neither education, nor cultivation, nor reformation, nor “turning over a new leaf,” will accomplish this. What is needed is not a new “leaf” but a new “life”! “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).
A New Nature Needed
By physical birth, we become partakers of human nature; by being born again, we become “partakers of the divine nature.” A Christian is the product of a divine “begetting.” The second birth is not an improvement of the old nature; it is the imparting of an entirely new nature. The old nature is hopelessly corrupt and incapable of ever being made fit for His presence. The new birth requires a creative act of the Holy Spirit. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
Not “Trying” But “Trusting”
“Trying to follow Christ” is not Christianity. Christianity is not imitation of Christ; it is the indwelling of Christ. Christianity is not trying to do anything. It is trusting Christ, who has done it all! He has “finished the work,” and there is nothing left to do but simply to receive and trust Him. He shed His precious blood on the cross, and the work is all done once and forever! Cease trying and begin trusting! Believers will progressively become more and more like Christ, but by His power, not their own.
What Must I Do To Be Saved?
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” The Bible says in 1 John 5:1, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” The Bible states in John 1:12-13, “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
You are born again; you become a Christian by trusting a Person—receiving a Person. The very moment you do this, the Lord Jesus Christ comes in, and life begins!
What Is Meant By “Believe”?
To “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” means more than simply believing the historic facts concerning Him. Intellectual belief about Christ is not sufficient. The belief that brings salvation must be “with the heart,” that is, with the whole being. This belief also includes repentance: “Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” The Bible states in Acts 17:30, “God… now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.”
The faith which saves, then, includes the necessity to repent and to receive Christ as Savior and Lord, to rest upon Him alone for salvation. It means to trust Him so utterly and completely that, if He should fail, there would be no hope at all!
May I Know That I Am Born Again?
This is an important question. We know that we are born again by the testimony of God’s Word. God says in John 5:24, “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Have you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as explained by God’s Word? If so, then you are saved; you are “born again,”; you have “passed from death unto life.” God says so! Take God at His Word, and go on your way rejoicing!
One Final Word
You may “belong to a church,” you may be “trying to do the best you can,” you may be “striving to live right.” Your outward life may be the model of moral correctness, and you may be looked up to, honored, revered, and respected. Yet, if you have not been “born again,” you are just as lost as if you had never heard of Christ. Yes, you may teach in the Sunday school, read the Bible, sing, shout, “feel happy,” and all the rest—but if you have never been “born again,” you are still in your sins and a stranger to the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you want to be saved from the wrath to come and from an eternity in Hell, and if you believe that Jesus Christ suffered, bled, and died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead, and you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer:
Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart, save my soul, and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me repent of my past sins. Help me turn from my old, evil life and follow You into a new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
