Fri, June 9, 2017: Trump pledges to make U.S. infrastructure the ‘envy of the world’
President Donald Trump ended a week dedicated to modernizing U.S. highways, railways and rivers with a thud.
The president visited the Transportation Department to highlight his goal of making it easier to build such projects. Trump said the permitting process takes too long, costing time and money. He pledged that “my administration is committed to ending these terrible delays once and for all.”
Underscoring the point, Trump flipped through the pages of a pair of thick binders that held the environmental impact statement for a Maryland highway. With the dramatic flair of the reality TV star he used to be, Trump dropped each binder to the floor with a loud thud after he thumbed through them. Fri, June 9, 2017: Trump speaks at transportation roundtable, meets with President of Romania
In the morning, the president will receive his daily intelligence briefing.
Later in the morning, he leaves the White House to attend the Roads, Rails, and Regulatory Relief Roundtable and give remarks at the Department of Transportation.
In the afternoon, Trump meets with the President of Romania and will hold a joint press conference.
Later in the afternoon, the President will depart the White House for Joint Base Andrews, en route to Bedminster, New Jersey.
