President Donald Trump spoke at a Women’s Empowerment Panel hosted by the White House on March 29.
He expressed a commitment from his administration to helping women succeed economically, “My administration will work every day to ensure that our economy is a place where women can work, succeed, and thrive like never before. That includes fighting to make sure that all mothers and all families have access to affordable childcare.”
Melania Trump is helping present courage awards to 13 women from around the world.
The first lady and top State Department official Thomas Shannon are presenting the awards in Washington.

After being unceremoniously dropped from President Donald Trump’s transition team, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is dipping his toes into the administration as he takes the lead of a White House commission to combat drug addiction.
Christie was at the White House Tuesday, meeting with members of the administration in preparation for the commission rollout. On Wednesday morning, he and President Trump will host an opioid and drug abuse listening session at the White House to formally kick off the effort.
