Oral Bible Translation Changes Lives

Yesterday, Nathan Richey with Wycliffe USA introduced us to Oral Bible Translation and explained how it works. Today, we’ll learn about the impact.

“It’s so cool to see the ways that God is using this new method around the world,” Richey says.

For example, in a South Asian country we cannot name for security reasons, “there was a man who was an idol worshiper and an alcoholic. [One day,] he heard the story of Jesus healing the centurion’s servant as it was played to a whole community of people, and it gave him hope,” Richey says.

“[He stopped] drinking and chose to follow Jesus instead of worshipping idols.”

In Liberia, the Holy Spirit is working on the hearts of people who follow a Majority religion.

“They were so excited to hear their own language being spoken. They would gather in groups of dozens of people to play these Scripture recordings out loud so the entire community could hear,” Richey says.

“Then they would spend hours discussing them (the Bible stories) after listening to them.”
