Cap Haitien, on the north side of Haiti, hasn’t had electricity for a year due to fuel shortages. When people can get fuel, they buy it in bulk and store it in their homes.

Roseline DeHart with For Haiti with Love says, “They either use gas lanterns or candles which also cause fires. They fall asleep with the candle lit, and then it burns whatever they put it on.”

Burn clinic

More accidental fires mean more burn victims being treated at the For Haiti with Love burn clinic. The staff soothes their wounds and shares about the love of Jesus.

But the economy has made times tough for the burn clinic as well. Dehart says, “Our donations are down, and buying the burn cream is harder. It’s difficult for us to keep going with the burn clinic. But we can’t turn anybody down because they’re hurting. So we just keep going and pray that God provides.”
