Police in Baltimore on Saturday were hunting for the gunmen accused of shooting a pregnant woman, who later gave birth before succumbing to her wounds.
Officers found the 38-year-old victim Thursday along with a man, who was also shot, inside a car stopped in East Baltimore. City police told WBAL-TV another vehicle pulled up alongside them as they tried to park and opened fire around 8:13 p.m.
Both victims were rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where the man was immediately pronounced dead.
The woman, identified on Friday as Angel Morgan Heather Smith, survived long enough to give birth to her baby, and then died a short time later, police said. The newborn was left in critical condition after the emergency delivery and will need to undergo surgery.
