An off-duty Illinois state trooper fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself inside a car in Chicago on Monday afternoon, a report said.
The 30-year-old trooper, Antonio Alvarez, and his 31-year-old spouse, Amanda Calo, were found by a witness in the vehicle parked on a street on the Southeast Side, CBS Chicago reported, citing police.
The pair both died of gunshot wounds to the head, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Calo was a beloved pre-K teacher in the Chicago Public Schools system, the teachers union said, calling her death a “devastating loss.”
The couple had two children – a 4-year-old boy, Eli, and a 1-year-old girl, Myla, the union said.
