New Hope Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California is searching for a new Pastor. In 1900, there were only 3,131 African Americans living in Los Angeles. The total Los Angeles population was 102, 000. New Hope Baptist Church was established in 1906. It was one of the first African American churches in Los Angeles. In 1954, the Church selected Paul R. Williams, a famous black architect, to design a new building to fulfill New Hope’s role as an educational center for the evolving urban African American community. On October 21, 1954, the congregation was led into its new home at 5200 South Central Avenue. New Hope is still holding services and classes in that historical building. Over the years a number of dynamic pastors, have led New Hope and helped establish the church as a leader in our African American community. Those extraordinary pastors include Rev. B.O. Byrd and Rev. J. S. McKnight.
Currently, New Hope Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California is searching for a Pastor
who an continue to expand our role in the community and will meet the Biblical qualifications of Titus 1-3. Our ideal pastor shall preach and teach the Holy Gospel, administer the ordinances of the Church, watch over the membership, promote the spiritual interest of the Church, organize the Church materially to develop the greatest extent for the best possible service. The pastor shall serve as the moderator of the business meetings and Chairman of the Official Board of Management. The pastor shall be an ex-official member with power to vote on all other church boards, auxiliaries, committees, and all organizations of the Church. Our ideal pastor should be mature, married, with or without children. Must be a college graduate, preferable with a degree in Divinity, or its equivalent, from an accredited seminary. A minimum of 6 years of experience as a full-time Baptist minister or pastor preferred.
1. Serve the congregation by the direction of the Holy Spirit and meet the needs of the
church body, adhering to the By-Laws of the church.
2. Able to preach and teach the gospel preferably from the King James Version of the Holy
Bible. Ability to promote the prosperity of the church through teaching through grace
giving, according to the New Testament.
3. Demonstrate sound Christian chacter-honest, sincere, upright, compassionate, warm
demeanor but firm.
4. Ability to lead and direct all church ministries with emphasis on our youth and our
sick and shut-in.
5. Articulate with good verbal and written communication skills.
