Whyte House Family Spoken Novels Holiday #32: Shaking the Gates of Hell: A Holyween Story Chapter 6

Welcome to the Whyte House Family Spoken Novels podcast: Holiday Edition episode #32. Today we are reading chapter 6 of the novel “Shaking The Gates of Hell” by Daniel Whyte III with Meriqua Whyte.

Although some saints were being knocked out of the race, new people were showing up from the church’s soul-winning efforts. One young family, the Harrises, started visiting the church regularly. Both the husband and wife knew Pastor Grant’s family, so having just moved into the area, they felt comfortable worshiping at Haven Bible Baptist Church.
In a private talk with Pastor Grant, Brother Harris shared a very personal decision he and his wife made.
“Brother Harris, the Lord has blessed you with three beautiful girls. Are you going to try for a son?” asked Pastor Grant.
“Pastor, to tell you the truth, we wanted one girl and one boy. Two girls came and we tried a third time for a boy but another girl came, so we decided to stop,” Brother Harris said.
“Now, you know you can’t just stop like that. Let nature run its course, my brother,” Pastor Grant said with a smile.
“Oh, we can’t do that now,” Brother Harris said, his face growing red with embarrassment.
“Don’t tell me your wife had a hysterectomy,” Pastor said.
“Well, uh, no…,” Brother Harris stuttered. “It was the other way around.”
“The other way around? What do you mean?”
“Well, I had a vasectomy.”
“Tell me you’re kidding—real men don’t do that,” Pastor Grant exclaimed.
Brother Harris tried to put up a brave front for the rest of the conversation, but Pastor Grant could tell he regretted going that route and he was sure that Brother Harris’ wife had talked him into making that decision.
Later that night, Pastor Grant shared the situation with his wife, Marlene, while she was preparing dinner. “The devil is in the middle of that mess,” he said. “Now he does not only feel as though he has cut off his manhood, but he feels less than a man and she is regretting what she made him do herself because she told him that she did not want to take any form of birth control. On top of that, she’s now accusing him of not performing in the bedroom like a man should.”
Sister Grant shook her head as she chopped the head of lettuce up into the salad bowl.
“In fact, I stopped by the other day to visit Brother Harris, but he hadn’t made it home yet. She tried to persuade me to come in and wait for him. Of course, I refused. From the way she was dressed, I’m sure she had more in mind than just waiting.”
“Seriously?” Marlene said.
Pastor Grant nodded. “The devil should know by now that I’m not going to fall for that because I fear what God will do to me.”
Sister Grant nodded. She often worried and prayed about the temptations her husband faced with other women and had to fight negative feelings and thoughts of insecurity.
Satan and his cohorts were pleased about the trouble they were causing for the families of Haven Bible Baptist Church. But the devil was not satisfied. He told his Special Task Force, “I have my eyes on Pastor Grant. You get no rest until he goes down.”
“Why don’t we just kill him?” suggested one demon.
“That’s my intention. He is very detrimental to my kingdom,” Satan said. “But the Lord God has His hand on him. I cannot touch his life because God is not finished with him yet.”
One demon leaned his head to the side and tapped his horn. “Haven’t we been through this with someone before?”
“Of course,” Satan said grimly. “We went through this with Job. So, since we can’t kill him, let’s just torture him as much as we can and try to knock him to the sidelines. If we can knock him out that way, we will be victorious.”

Now, dear listener, please know that God—the divine Author of all things—wants to write a great story with your life as well. But first you must give Him the pen by trusting Him with the life He gave you and surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ as Savior. Here is how:

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: “For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Romans 3:23 reads: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
