Aman Khalili, who as a translator helped rescue Joe Biden when his helicopter made an emergency landing in Afghanistan in 2008, made it across the border into Pakistan. After he got out, top State Department officials arranged for military transport. A group of US military vets from the Arizona National Guard helped Khalili and his family get assistance fleeing Afghanistan. Aided by the group Human First, they made it through multiple Taliban checkpoints, nearly turning back, before crossing into Pakistan.
