The FBI has fired Special Agent Richard Trask, 39, a key figure in the case against 14 men who allegedly plotted to kidnap the Michigan governor, the Detroit News has confirmed. It is unclear why he was fired, but the announcement comes two months after he was arrested for allegedly beating his wife over a disagreement at a swingers’ party. Last week, prosecutors also decided not to use his testimony after social media posts emerged showing he called former President Donald Trump a ‘douchebag.’ Now, the defense is trying to paint a picture of corrupt FBI agents involved in the case.
