I have wonderful news for you and Reverend Whyte lll and everyone at the Gospel Light Society : ) I had sent you a prayer request on August 28 and among the things I asked for prayers for was this–
“I talked to my friend VaDonna tonight on the phone and she asked me to please ask you to please pray for her best friend Darlene. She and Darlene have been best friends since high school and poor Darlene has Covid. She also has numerous other health problems. Can you please pray for perfect and complete healing for Darlene?”
I talked to VaDonna on the phone last night and I am thrilled to report that Darlene is recovering from the Covid–thank and praise God : ) !!!! Considering Darlene’s age–she is in her 80’s–and her other serious health problems she it is a miracle that she survived the Covid!!! Darlene and VaDonna and I are so deeply appreciative and thank you all for your prayers!!!
Once again THANK YOU and God bless you and Reverend Whyte lll and everyone at the Gospel Light Society,
Building and Battling While Waiting and Watching, Part 20 (Second Coming Chapel Sermon #304)
TEXT: 2 Peter 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
J.C. Ryle said, “Christ’s second coming is a powerful spring and stimulus to holy living. It is a motive for patience, for moderation, for spiritual-mindedness, a test for the employment of time, and a gauge for all my actions. Ask yourself, “Would I like my Lord to find me in this place? Would I like Him to find me so doing?”
In our last message, we looked at the meaning of the day of the Lord and the devastation and judgment it will bring for the world.
Second, we must live holy and godly lives in light of the second coming. 2 Peter 3:11-12 says, “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” The second coming is not just a doctrine with implications for the future, it should affect how we live our lives in the present. Because Jesus Christ will return, we ought to live lives of holy conversation or holy conduct. Our behavior ought to be moral and spiritually pleasing to God. We are also to live godly lives. The word translated as godliness is defined as “the attitude which gives God the place he ought to occupy in life and thought and in devotion.” We ought to worship God and meditate on the things of God as we wait for His return. Charles Spurgeon said, “The King is coming; he is coming to his throne, and to his judgment. Now a man does not go up to a king’s door, and there talk treason; and men do not sit in a king’s audience-chamber when they expect him every moment to enter, and there speak ill of him. The King is on his way, and almost here; you are at his door; he is at yours. What manner of people ought ye to be? How can ye sin against One who is so close at hand? He specifies two branches of holy life. “In all holy conversation,” that is to say, all holy behaviour towards men; “and godliness,” that is, all pious dealing towards God. True religion by no means depreciates the duties of the second table of the law. If you have not reached morality, how can you dare to talk about holiness, which is a far higher and loftier thing? The best morality in the world will not prove a man to be a Christian, but if a man has not morality, it proves that he is not a child of God. And then as to God: We are to fulfil all manner of godliness. God is to be worshipped by us devoutly, and we are to take pains to worship him in his own way. Rest assured that he who neglects one of the least of Christ’s ordinances and teaches men so, the same shall be least in the kingdom of heaven. Every truth is important. Be right even in little things.” We are warned in the Bible that we will have to give an account of ourselves to God after the second coming of Christ. We ought to live all of life thinking about the return of Christ and the day we will stand before God and act accordingly.
Now, if you are not a believer in Jesus Christ, I urge you to trust in Him because He is coming again and you do not want to be left behind. Here is how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and the consequences of sin.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
