Detroit Black Restaurant Week kicks off Friday and runs through Aug. 29.
More than 50 Black-owned restaurants and food trucks will be participating in Detroit Black Restaurant Week.
Nick Wilson is the chef and co-owner of The Lobster Food Truck, which travels all around Metro Detroit serving up fresh lobster.
“Just brought something to the city that no one really had, you know, fresh seafood, straight from Maine. You know, I love it,” Wilson said.
Wilson started the food truck three years ago. He said the support he gets from Detroit Black Restaurant Week goes a long way.
“There’s challenges with each and every one of the human race so there’s some things that we get looked over, for such as you know, grants, loans, things of that nature as well,” Wilson said.
He said Detroit Black Restaurant Week gives people an incentive to get out and try new types of food.
