Lebanon struggles under the crushing weight of a seemingly endless financial crisis. The currency has lost 90 percent of its value, and many people struggle to buy food.
But Pierre Houssney of Horizons International says many people are reaching out for God right now. “There are these touchpoints where the kingdom of heaven touches the earth, and that’s where the church is. And so of course, there’s a special blessing there, especially when the world around is struggling. People from the outside think that everything’s bad because the economy is bad. And that’s true from a worldly perspective. But at the same time, there are a lot of people that are finding hope in Christ in a way that they never have before.”
Horizons International continues to provide aid to 84 churches in Lebanon. They also pay their staff in U.S. dollars, allowing them to care for their families.
