Christian parents have a new weapon in their arsenal to combat the tide of problematic content too easily discovered on the internet. FreeFiltering.org,, designed to block dangerous content from a growing catalog of more than 2 million websites and categories, launched May 1, 2021, as a free service based on simple adjustments to home Wi-Fi routers. The company plans to secure 40 volunteer beta-test families while offering free and premium paid services.
FreeFiltering.org is “designed to make the internet a safer place for souls,” according to founder Michael Lee Mason. The father of three was frustrated by the difficulty in using and maintaining parental controls from both internet service providers and device manufacturers. “Our goal is to make sure every Christian family has the ability to protect their home Internet from the ‘wiles of the devil’,” per the company’s website.
