Rags-to-riches story of Frito-Lay janitor, now 62, who became director after ‘creating’ Cheetos Flamin’ Hot flavor is exposed as a lie – yet Eva Longoria film based on his fake story presses ahead

Richard Montañez, 62, has made a career from his remarkable story – writing two books, giving $50,000-a-time motivational speeches, and selling the rights of his book for a biopic. Yet on Sunday The Los Angles Times reported that his story is not what it seems. They found inconsistencies with the timeline, and spoke to people who worked on the product at the time, and denied Montañez’s role. Frito Lays held an investigation in 2018, and concluded that the ‘urban legend’ is not the whole story.
