If you forget the cranberry sauce or need to stock up on milk on Thanksgiving Day, don’t despair.
Some grocery stores, drugstore chains and most large convenience stores will be open for last-minute errands Thursday.
But beware: more stores will be closed Thursday than open this year and those stores that are open will be operating with reduced hours.
With coronavirus cases surging across the country, several retailers reversed the trend of opening on Thanksgiving for Black Friday sales. Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and Best Buy are among the stores that will be closed.
Because of state laws, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island stores will remain closed Thanksgiving. Stores in some areas also have varied hours because of county or municipal laws.
Several restaurants also are open if you want to pick up a meal. Most Starbucks will also be open. (See the list of who is open and who is closed here.)
