How to Hope: Lessons from the Israelites and Their Messianic Expectation, Part 57 (Second Coming Chapel Sermon #272)

TEXT: Daniel 7:13-14

Consequences CD Series + Kingdom Values Book

13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Ryan Braught said, “As Christians, the return of Christ is a great promise and hope to us, that our Lord is returning, and on that day according to John, all that we have been longing for will be accomplished, and we will be like him. We have already been justified before God through Christ and our sins wholly forgiven. Now we are daily being sanctified, being made more and more like him, but on that glorious day we will be made fully like Christ, we will be glorified. Let us live our lives, looking for and longing for the return of Christ, not so we can just leave this world, but because it means the culmination of all that God has promised for us and because it motivates us to live each day in passionate pursuit of him and his glory, in a way that demonstrates our hope in his soon return.”

In our last three messages, we saw that despite seeing his people exiled and his homeland in ruins, Daniel had hope in the promises that God had made to His people Israel. We then saw how the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, will reign with the power of God. Here are two more things we can learn from Daniel’s vision.

Second, the Son of Man will reign over all people. Daniel tells us that “there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:” Jesus’ kingdom will be unrivaled in authority. God has established Christ as King, and all will bow before His throne. When we look at the chaos and turbulence on this earth, with plagues, protests, wars and rumors of wars, we can hope in knowing that even now, Jesus is on the throne of heaven, and that one day all people will serve Him. David Guzik said, “This great passage describes the transition from human dominion on earth to divine dominion. This happens as the Son of Man comes and exercises dominion over the earth. The Son of Man succeeds the reign of the fourth beast. The fourth beast is destroyed and the others may continue, but without dominion of their own. When Jesus sets up His kingdom, the empire of the Antichrist will be completely crushed, yet some nations will continue into the Millennium. The title Son of Man was a favorite self-designation of Jesus, used more than 80 times in the four Gospels. He receives all dominion previously held by the beasts and His reign will be permanent.” When the Son of Man receives the kingdom from God, he will receive the service and worship of people from all races, nations, and languages. He is the King of Kings and Lord of lords, and all people are called to bow to Him. It is our job to work to further the kingdom of Christ on earth, spreading the Gospel to all people so that souls will be ready for the return of King Jesus Christ.

Now, if you are not a believer in Jesus Christ, I urge you to trust in Him because He is coming again and you do not want to be left behind. Here is how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and the consequences of sin.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
