Christian leaders across the world are mourning the death earlier today of evangelist and spiritual mentor Morris Cerullo, or as he was known by many, “Papa,” at 88.
Evangelist Donna Schambach, daughter of renowned worldwide evangelist R.W. Schambach and head of the Schambach Foundation, posted her condolences on Twitter: “One of my father’s lifelong friends passed away last night. Dr. Morris Cerullo’s statesman-like role in missionary evangelism and leadership training will leave a huge vacuum. May God raise up his sons and daughters to continue in his example. Love and prayers to Sister Theresa.”

Award-winning gospel singer Marvin Sapp shared on Instagram, “January 2018 I was in San Diego CA preaching for this general in the kingdom’s conference. That day while broken and hurting, God told me to begin preparing to leave everything I had worked so hard and labored to build not even knowing where I was going. We had a short conversation which settled my spirit man. I preached and began my journey to where I am now. The moral of this story is, it’s not the length of the conversation that helps you but the impact of the word that’s said that can shift you. RIP Morris Cerullo.”
Author and prophet James Goll of God Encounters Ministries posted similar words on Instagram about Cerullo’s loss: “The last of the Healing Evangelist[s], Morris Cerullo, graduated to be with the Lord earlier today at the age of 88. This is another demarcation in church history with the passing of the baton from one great pioneering generation to another generation postured to carry on and move forward. Thank You, Lord, for the life, ministry and legacy of this wonderful man of God.”
Cerullo’s ministry extended worldwide, and so did the expressions of condolence. Sao Paolo, Brazil, district assemblyman and Assemblies of God Cathedral of Revival Pastor Marco Feliciano shared his thoughts on Twitter, calling Cerullo “a prince of the gospel” and saying, “Your ministry touched me when I was a teenager. It was a passionate Pentecostal. Your legacy will be remembered for generations.”

Ifeanyi Adefarasin, co-pastor of the Nigerian megachurch House on the Rock, which has daughter churches across Africa and Europe, wrote, “A mighty general in the Lord’s army has gone to glory! Dr. Morris Cerullo, who spent his life and legacy, winning souls to Christ, has gone to be with our King. He not only taught the word but lived it, and taught so many, all over the world, to do the same.”
