Belarus president who claimed vodka would cure coronavirus diagnosed with Covid-19

A world leader who claimed vodka and saunas could keep Covid-19 at bay and refused to cancel large sporting events has confirmed he has the virus.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has previously come under fire after refusing to lockdown, and continued to play ice hockey as the disease spread across the world.

The dictator also claimed that drinking 50ml of vodka a day would protect people from the virus.

Lukashenko previously bragged that no one would die from coronavirus in Belarus.

The number to die from the disease currently stands at 538.

The 65-year-old said during a meeting: “Today you are meeting a man who managed to survive the coronavirus on his feet.

“Doctors came to such a conclusion yesterday. Asymptomatic.”

He had told citizens in April: “They should not even worry.

“No-one will die from coronavirus in our country. I am saying this in public.

“This is my firm conviction judging by analysis not only of previous years.
