Start the New Year Off Right by Getting Your Life Changed and Your Soul Saved From Hell (GLMX #417)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #417 titled, “Words of Truth for a New Year.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

A NEW YEAR HAS ARRIVED!

And like the year before it, this new 365 days has come with much anticipation.

Many people begin January 1 with goals, hopes, dreams, and perhaps even a plan of action for all that they would like to accomplish. The possibilities for a new year’s list of resolutions are endless. Some of the most common include exercise routines, healthier eating, progress at work, and quality time spent with family. Life goals and resolutions can be a great way to begin a year, so long as a healthy balance is maintained.

For Christians, the start of a new year arrives with reminders afresh of the glorious promises that God has made to His people through the Bible. For Christians—those who have repented of their sin and received Jesus Christ as their Savior—a new year is a chance for renewed commitments to seek after God and to share the good news of Jesus.

The Scriptures below are foundational truths that Christians believe. They are beacons of hope, not only for a new year but also for an eternal future with God.

If you have not yet placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, then these Scriptures bring great news. The Gospel of Jesus is that His birth, life, death on a cross, and resurrection to heaven from the grave deliver eternal life to those who turn away from sin and receive Jesus as their Savior. Make this new year the start of an eternity-changing journey toward becoming a child of God!

Gospel Scriptures for a New Year

The Bible says in Romans 3:23; 6:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. . . . For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

Jesus Christ said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:1, 2; 2:4, 5, “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world. . . . But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

The Bible says in Titus 3:4–7, “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:22–25, “[Jesus] did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to [God] that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.”

The Light of the Gospel

Let these Scriptures sink deep into your hearts. Memorize them. Share them with your friends and family. The Gospel—or Good News—of Jesus Christ is a bright light to an often-dark world. If you believe the truths that you’ve just read, it is only fitting that you would want to share the rich hope of the Gospel, especially at the beginning of a new year.

If you have read these words of good news as an unbeliever and if you want to be saved from the wrath to come and from an eternity in Hell, and if you believe that Jesus Christ suffered, bled, and died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead and you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please take the first step of faith and pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer: Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to repent of my sins past. Help me to turn from my old, evil life and follow You in the new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
