Philadelphia Eagles Sign RB Elijah Holyfield

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday they have signed running back Elijah Holyfield, son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield.

Elijah Holyfield played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2016-2018 and went undrafted before joining the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad this past summer. The 22-year-old is 5-foot-10 and rushed for over 1,000 yards as a junior in Athens in 2018.

The elder Holyfield was a heavyweight champion in the 1990s, best known for battling Mike Tyson and having part of his ear bitten off by Tyson in a 1997 match.

Holyfield became the first boxer since Muhammad Ali to win a world heavyweight title three times. He remains the only boxer in history to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes.
