This year, March for Life is celebrating the 100th anniversary of a woman’s right to vote and responding to a pro-choice belief that abortion supports women with their theme: “Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman.”
“Ending the life of an innocent human being is promoted as an essential to women’s freedom, to women’s empowerment, and to women’s progress. To that we say, ‘No,’” said March for Life’s Jeanne Mancini, according to the Washington Examiner.
At a press conference for the annual march, March for Life also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment allowing women the right to vote and highlighted suffragists such as Susan B. Anthony and Alice Paul.
“What most people don’t understand is that the first wave feminists were, without known exception, all pro-life,” said Serrin Foster of Feminists for Life to CBN News. “They believed in the rights of slaves to be free, the right of women to vote, and they believed in the right of women and children to be protected from abortion.”
Foster continued to express that abortion shows that women’s needs have yet to be met.
