LISTEN: The Last Hug and the Last Time (Gospel Light Minute X #401 with Daniel Whyte III)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #401 titled, “The Last Hug and the Last Time .” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

The wedding was about to begin. The groom was nervous. The bride was radiant. The guests were in their place. As their pastor, I was trying to calm the anxiety-stricken groomsmen.

Then the father of the bride caught my attention. He was serene, pensive, and almost tearful. “I mean the very last time. I do not remember,” he said in his mind. “Was she six, seven, or maybe nine? I just do not remember. I only know that if I had realized that it was the last time to hold my little girl, I would have hugged her longer, tighter, and with more feeling. I wonder when was the last time that I picked her up and held her,”

“THE LAST TIME!”

Those are serious words;

The last football game for the quarterback,

The last workday for the retiree,

The last kiss for the widow,

The last time.

What would you do if you were to invest your energy into today as if it was your last day? How would it be different from your normal routine day? Think of the drastic change this would make in most of our relationships with parents, children, spouse, friends, employer, in fact, everyone. Are there feelings in your heart that are destined to stay locked inside?

The body in the coffin does not hear the wonderful words or see the tears of the loved one standing beside it.

Whoever the writer of Hebrews was certainly understood this principle: The Bible says in Hebrews 3:7-8, “…To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts…”

Hebrews 3:13 says, “Exhort (encourage) one another daily, while it is called To day…”

Today you may have opportunities, which will never come again. Doors may shut and never be opened again. There will be a “LAST” hug for all of us.

The last singing of our favorite hymn,

A last church service,

A last goodbye,

A last brotherly handshake

A last kiss and a last hug,

One last chance to accept Jesus Christ as Savior; for Hebrews 9:27 says, “…It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2, “…Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

The Bible states in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Bible says in Romans 10:9,13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead and you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer: Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to repent of my sins past. Help me to turn from my old, evil life and follow You in the new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
