Friends of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said the couple are house hunting in the celebrity enclave of Malibu because Meghan is ‘homesick’.
Los Angeles-born Meghan is said to be keen to find a home in the US to escape, and the royal couple have their sights set on the California city of Malibu.
The Mail on Sunday reported the royal pair may be preparing to move abroad with LA on the high list of priorities.
The Duke and Duchess apparently snubbed Prince Charles’s plans to take on an estate in Herefordshire, which had been set aside for Harry as part of a scheme by the Prince of Wales to create an estate near the Welsh Borders.
The average three-bedroom house price on the California coastline can cost up to $7million or £5.7million.
LA cafe owner Edmund Fry, 79, who first met Meghan when he taught her royal etiquette at his English tea room in LA told The Daily Express: ‘Meghan and Harry are looking for a place out here. I have heard that they are interested in Malibu.
‘Knowing Meghan and talking to her, she misses home. Meghan is a Los Angeles girl, born and raised here with many links to Hollywood and friends here.’
The owner of Rose Tree Cottage cafe said: ‘It is possible to live stress-free and out of the glare of publicity here. LA and California are so huge, it is easy to escape to places with your family and just blend in with everyone.’
Mr Fry said Meghan’s LA business friends have been scouting the Pacific Coast Highway and Pasadena for potential places for the royal couple.
