Antonio Brown’s former stepfather said he is not surprised the New England Patriots wide receiver has been accused of sexual assault as he is ‘abusive’ towards women.

Larry Moss Jr., 50, said he helped raise Brown, 31, with Brown’s mother, Adrianne Moss, in Florida but admitted the pair had a strained relationship during his teenage years.

His comments came after it emerged that that Brown’s former personal trainer, 28-year-old Britney Taylor, was suing him for allegedly sexually assaulting and raping her.

Moss told USA Today Sports: ‘I can’t tell you that he did what they said he did. ‘But I know he’s very abusive to women.

‘As far as just raping somebody, (Brown) just feels like he can have whatever he wants. He’s just empowered that way. So it doesn’t surprise me that this kind of allegation came out about him.’

Moss was married to Adrianne for 20 years before they divorced several years ago. Adrianne raised Antonio and his brother Desmond on her own as their father, Eddie Brown, left to continue his football career, according to ESPN.

Moss said he helped raise Brown in Miami-Dade County in Florida between the ages of 5 and 17, and claimed the NFL star’s woes started during his childhood.

‘A lot of things that Tony’s doing, nothing surprises me. I’m surprised that it took them this long to figure him out. Because he’s been this way since he’s been 12 years old.’

Brown’s younger brother Desmond said he and Antonio Brown got involved during physical altercations between their mother, Adrianne Moss, and Larry Moss.

‘Sometimes we’d have to get physical with him, too,’ Desmond Brown, 29, told USA TODAY Sports by text message.

‘And this happened numerous times. Then my mom made us leave (home) because she needed her husband’s help with the bills. Now they’re divorced and we try to rekindle the relationship with our mom but it’s hard.’

Moss denied Desmond Brown’s allegations. He claimed he had just one physical altercation during their marriage that lasted about 20 years.

Brown took to Instagram to respond to the allegations amid rumors he’s set to take the field in Miami this weekend against the Dolphins.

In a live video broadcasted on Thursday evening from teammate Tom Brady’s TB12 Sports Therapy Center, Brown didn’t reference his accuser directly but did appear to loosely reference the allegations and reiterate his innocence.

‘No matter what they say, no matter what they hate, somebody’s still gotta work,’ Brown told the some 16,000 followers watching the stream.

‘In the time of crisis, all I ask is love, dedication and focus. The devil is going to try to bring you down when you get closer to your goals.

‘The key is: don’t let him.’

The 31-year-old NFL star signed with New England on Saturday in a deal worth $15 million, just hours after he made a controversial exit from the Oakland Raiders.

But within two-days of the announcement, the attorney of his former personal trainer, Britney Taylor, who revealed she was suing Brown for allegedly sexually assaulting and raping her.

Despite the severity of Taylor’s claims, all the signs are pointing towards Brown making his Patriots debut on Sunday in Week two of the NFL season.

So far this week, the Patriots have held two practice sessions and Brown has been present for both.

Excluding an injury, the only think likely to exclude him from taking the field would be a last-second decision made by the league to put him on the commissioner’s exempt list.

The NFL is currently investigating the sexual assault lawsuit, and for now, the receiver is still allowed to practice and play in games while the probe continues, in accordance with league rules.

But, should officials opt to put him on the list, Brown would essentially be placed on paid leave and would not be eligible until the investigation is concluded.

According to NFL.com, no announcement is likely to be made on Brown before Sunday, clearing the way for him to feature on the roster.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala said Wednesday afternoon that his office will ‘take a look’ into claims that Brown sexually assaulted his former fitness instructor Britney Taylor on three occasions between 2017 and 2018.

Zappala’s office released a statement saying: ‘This office, as a matter of course, will review information in a federal lawsuit whenever that information references potential criminal activity, even if that activity had not been previously known to law enforcement.’

In her lawsuit, Taylor says Brown ‘preyed’ on her ‘kindness’ and ‘religious devotion’ by pretending to share her faith.

She was hired by Brown as a personal trainer in 2017 – alleging the first rape to have taken place in during a training session in June that year.

Taylor, a gymnast who first met Brown while they were both studying at Central Michigan University, says the 31-year-old ‘exposed himself and kissed [her] without consent,’ according to documents obtained by DailyMail.com.

She also described a second alleged incident ‘later that same month’, in which Brown is said to have stood behind her with she was watching television, masturbated without her knowledge and then ‘ejaculated on her back’.

In her statement through her attorney, she told DailyMail.com: ‘As a rape victim of Antonio Brown, deciding to speak out has been an incredibly difficult decision.

According to ESPN, Taylor is due to meet with the NFL next week. She is getting married this week.

‘I have found strength in my faith, my family, and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault. Speaking out removes the shame that I have felt for the past year and places it on the person responsible for my rape.

‘I will cooperate with the NFL and any other agencies; however, at this time, I respectfully request that the media please respect my privacy.’

She describes three incidents in her lawsuit.

The first was in June 2017 when they were at his home in Pittsburgh. He had not booked her a hotel room, so she was staying with him, she said.

Taylor claims she was getting dressed in an upstairs bathroom when Brown appeared ‘with his penis exposed’.

Brown then ‘grabbed and kissed her without consent,’ the lawsuit says.

Taylor claims she was in a relationship with another man at the time and was horrified by Brown’s conduct but that she did not want to lose the professional relationship so decided to keep working with him.

Later that month, the pair were at his home in Florida when, she says, he masturbated behind her while they watched a church service on her iPad.

‘Before she knew it or understood what was happening, Brown ejaculated on her. Ms Taylor felt a wet spot on her back then suddenly realized what happened.

‘Thoroughly disgusted, she exclaimed: “Ewww!” Brown, unfazed by her reaction, jokingly responded, “oh ‘B’… you know, I’m sorry” then left the room,’ the lawsuit reads.
