This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #394 titled, “How to Get Clean on the Inside” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.
Maybe it’s the Mom in me, but I really like things to be clean. I think you would probably agree that whether it’s our house, our clothes, or even our car, we feel better once things are washed and put in order.
We can spend a lot of time, effort, and money making sure the things around us are spotless. But how often do you and I evaluate our heart and conscience to see if we are clean on the inside?
ARE YOU CLEAN?
Have you ever stopped to think about how God sees you? The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7 that God “seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” When He looks at your heart—at the real you—what does He see? He has inspected the words, deeds, and thoughts of every person and reached the conclusion that: “There is none righteous, no, not one … all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.
You may be saying, “How could God think I am not clean? I’m basically a good person. I’ve never hurt anybody.” But what we need to realize is that our definition of “clean” is not the same as God’s. No matter how hard we try to be decent and moral, “we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”. Unless we are made perfectly spotless, we cannot stand in God’s holy presence).
WHO CAN MAKE US CLEAN?
If you have kids, have you ever asked them to clean their room—or the mess they made in the kitchen—only to be disappointed with the results? To get the job done right, we have to step in. That’s a picture of what God has done for us. He knows that we can’t make ourselves clean, so in His great love and mercy He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem and rescue us.
Jesus, Who was declared to be “a Lamb without blemish and without spot”, was uniquely qualified to pay the penalty for our sin. The sinless One became sin for us when He suffered and died on the cross. Jesus “bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness”. He “loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood”.
DO YOU WANT TO BE CLEAN?
Only God can wash away the dirt and filth and stain of sin. Listen to His offer: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.
The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. Jesus did all the work for you when He died on the cross and rose again. All you need to do is accept the free gift He offers. Put your trust in Jesus Christ today.
The Bible says in Acts 3:19, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out”.
If you believe that Jesus Christ died in your place and rose again from the dead and you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer: Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to repent of my sins past. Help me to turn from my old, evil life and follow You in the new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
