A Florida woman was shocked and furious when she went to pick her dog up from a local groomer and discovered that they’d dyed her hair pink and neon green.
Graziella Puleo, 24, told the Palm Beach Post that she’d left her Goldendoodle Lola at Amore’s Pet Salon Dog Grooming Day Care Boarding Spa in Lake Worth Beach, requesting they give her a buzz cut, trim her nails, and clean her teeth.
But when she came back to fetch her pet nine hours later, the dog’s teeth hadn’t been cleaned — and worse, the groomer had taken it upon herself to dye parts of the dog’s fur different colors.
When Lola came home from the groomer, her eyebrows were inexplicably colored a shocking shade of neon green, as was the tip of her tail.
Both of her ears also looked to have been dipped in bright pink dye, giving the dog an odd, colorful appearance.
‘I almost cried,’ Graziella said. ‘I was like, “You dyed my dog’s hair?”
‘She looks like you painted on her and were trying to turn her into a clown,’ the irate customer added.
What’s more, Graziella said her dog’s underside was pink from infection, and she had to be taken to the vet.
The owner of the grooming business apologized and refunded the $150 Graziella paid, but seemed to defend the dye job — if not the fact that they didn’t ask first.
‘The young lady, she’s very sweet. We wanted to make her happy. We beautify the dog… If we see it’s missing something, we do color, sometimes, the dog,’ said Raquel Adams.
‘We did wrong about the color. We should have offered her first,’ she added.
Raquel also said the dog’s teeth hadn’t been cleaned because she didn’t like it, and blamed the infection on the dog herself, saying she licked herself.
Graziella is still upset and has tried to contact a lawyer.
‘It was definitely a traumatizing experience for my puppy,’ she wrote on Facebook. ‘I hope this grooming service has learned their lesson and no other dog out there has to go through the pain they cause mine.
‘So glad it’s over, BUT the hair dye still has yet to come out. ‘
