I know the title sounds morbid, but you need to take it seriously because people are checking out of planet earth at a rapid rate. Not only will some people reading these lines die soon, but some will die violent deaths.
According to the Population Reference Bureau & the CIA’s World Factbook:
• Two people die each second
• 105 people die each minute
• 6,316 people die each hour
• 151,600 people die each day
• 55.3 million people die each year
The Holy Bible says, “It is appointed unto men once to die.”
Just today, it was reported that a young couple got married and with their wedding clothes still on, as they were pulling out from the courthouse was struck by a truck and died instantly. And let’s not forget the dear souls who recently departed this life unexpectedly in Gilroy, California, at a Garlic Festival, and the dear people shopping at Wal-mart in El Paso, Texas, and the people enjoying an evening in Dayton, Ohio. The way things are going, you, too, will be dead soon. Get ready!
To borrow the words of Isaiah to King Hezekiah: “Get your house in order.”
Yes, get your house in order. Prepare your family for death. Don’t pull an Aretha Franklin. Make sure you have a legal binding will. Set aside money for your funeral. Make sure insurance is in order. Make sure you are at peace with your family and friends, etc. But most of all, make sure your soul is prepared for eternity by trusting Jesus Christ as Savior.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved” (Acts 16:31).
