TEXT: Acts 17:24-28
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
As a reminder of what this series is all about, allow me to continue sharing with you once again “The Forethought” of “The Lost Souls of Black Folk and White Folk”:
I know that you will think that this is trite, however, it is still true: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
I can hear hundreds of my Pharisaical, ivory tower brethren saying, “Oh, this is all so simplistic!” Let me remind them and you that God is big on simplicity. When you think about what I call God’s wonderful system of grace, it is not complicated at all. In fact, it is very simple. Hard, but simple. Hard to give up His Son for our sins, but simple. Hard for Christ to die the cruel death He died for our sins, but simple. Anybody who walks with God and knows God will find that He is big on simplicity. In fact, the Holy Spirit moved Paul to write in 2 Corinthians 11:3, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
As I look at the landscape of the church today, I am convinced, even among evangelicals, many so-called “servant-leaders” and churches have actually been beguiled by the serpent, the devil, because everybody is trying to be original and fresh and new to the point they are becoming ridiculous and taking the simplicity of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and making it not only difficult but unrecognizable, confusing saints and sinners. And I fear that we have thousands of dear souls going to Hell from the church pews because of it. K.I.S.S. — Keep It Simple, Saints!
Even though we recognize that the color line is still a problem, allow me to cast a new vision for the 21st century that is more hopeful and that offers a solution to the problem of the color line because it is Christ-centered and Gospel mission-focused. Now let me help you here: I believe that black and white Christians are leaders of not only America, but the world. I firmly believe that what we do together matters and that the way America goes, so goes the world. I believe that if we as black and white Christians would find our souls again by getting our hearts right with God, by humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God’s face, turning from our wicked ways, and getting back to our first love, who, by the way, is Jesus Christ, then God will hear our hearts and our prayers and heal our lives and our land.
The black and white church needs to cease talking about being reconciled when we have never been “conciled” in the first place. And the church needs to cease talking about race like it is the only sin in the church. In fact, if a person has not been called by God to deal with the sin of racism as Martin Luther King, Jr. was called to do, we need to get off of dealing with the issue of the color line altogether and deal with the four-pronged mission of the church, and that is to confess and repent of our sins, love all people, witness to all people, and pray for all people.
For the problem of the 21st century is that we are still talking about the color line and not what Jesus Christ did on the cross in the fullness of time.
As you may know, I preached the Gospel for 367 days straight during the tumultuous 2016 presidential campaign. I also preached the Gospel for 100 days straight in between Barack Obama’s two terms as president in 2012. The campaign is called the “Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign.” Since that time, I have continued preaching the Gospel nearly every day—totaling now over 1,000 Gospel, Christ-centered messages—throughout the Trump years as a symbol to the church on how we need to get back to the main thing, and that we need to keep the main thing the main thing which is to love all people, witness to all people, pray for all people, and keep ourselves unspotted from the world by confessing sin daily and repenting of sin.
If you are a Christian listening today, here are three things you need to do:
1. Confess and repent of your own sins. You already know what they are.
2. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ to repent of their sins and get back to their first love
3. Pray for souls to be saved, and do your part by witnessing to the lost.
Now, if you are with us today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
