My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.
First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.
The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to CNN, a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake swayed buildings and cracked streets and foundations in Southern California on Friday night, sending terrified residents into the streets a day after another quake hit. The latest earthquake struck 11 miles northeast of Ridgecrest. It was five times bigger and 11 times stronger than Thursday’s 6.4-magnitude earthquake, also centered near Ridgecrest. There’s been an average of one aftershock per minute since Friday’s quake in the southern part of the state. Gas leaks caused structure fires, residents reported water main breaks, and power and communications were out in some areas, and several injuries were reported.
Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Washington Examiner, Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and White House adviser, slammed Palestinian leadership as acting “hysterical and stupid” for refusing to participate in a peace and economic development conference he organized in Bahrain. Kushner told a conference call of Israeli and Arab reporters that Palestinian officials made “a strategic mistake.” The two-day conference was held last week in Bahrain’s capital and focused on raising funds for projects meant to improve the Palestinian economy. Kushner said, “The door is always open for the Palestinian leadership. If they stop saying crazy things and engage, they will see there is an opportunity here. We respect President Abbas and we believe he wants to make peace, and we want to give him the opportunity to try and do it.”
Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to The Associated Press, the U.S. military says nearly a dozen Air Force F-22 stealth fighters have deployed to the Persian Gulf state of Qatar. They are part of a force buildup requested by U.S. Central Command in response to what it called an increase in Iranian threats against American forces in the region. The F-22 Raptors began arriving this week at al-Udeid air base, a hub for U.S. air operations in the Middle East. The base also has four B-52 bombers that were deployed in May, along with the accelerated deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. Additional Patriot air-and-missile defense systems also were sent to the Gulf region in recent weeks.
Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.
Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.
Our topic for today is titled “The Great Harlot and the Scarlet Beast (Part 3)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”
Babylon is still in ruins in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. Saddam Hussein’s attempt to “rebuild” it as a tourist trap hardly qualifies it as the great city of the Last Days. Besides, his attempts failed. Babylon has no sacred significance to the religion of Islam. Muslims are interested in protecting only their holy sites. They have no interest in rebuilding ancient pagan sites, including Babylon. Therefore, it will likely remain in ruins.
A basic survey of the Revelator’s description of Babylon quickly reveals that it cannot be ancient Babylon in modern Iraq. Remember, it is portrayed as the city of the Antichrist who rules the whole world. It is a center of commerce, enterprise, and trade. And it is the city that shed the blood of the “witnesses of Jesus.” Babylon does not qualify in any of these regards. Notice also the characteristics of apocalyptic Babylon.
Rich and prosperous
Immoral and drunken
Associated with Satan and the beast
City that sits on seven mountains
Leader of a ten-nation confederacy with Roman (European) roots
City that reigns over many nations
Center of commercial enterprise
Sailors cross the sea to get there
An entertainment capital
Burns up in one hour
Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.
In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.
Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 3). J.C. Ryle writes:
Is it not dark in our own country at this present day? How much of sin there is — and how little of God! How much of open john the — is weekly crying against us before the Lord Almighty! How many people go to no place of worship at all! How many go to church and chapel merely as a matter of form! How few are really in earnest about the salvation of their souls! How few have any evidence to show of a saving faith in Christ and a real work of the Spirit in their hearts! Surely even among ourselves it is night.
Is there not much darkness under the eyes of every true believer? Go to the most godly, quiet, and orderly parish in our land at this moment. Ask any well-informed child of God residing in it how many true Christians it contains, and what is the proportion of the converted to the unconverted. Mark well the answer he will give. I doubt if you will find a parish where one third of the people are converted! And if such be the report of parishes which are like the green tree, what must be the state of things in the dry? Surely it is night!
It is useless to deny these things. As humbling as it may be to the pride of human nature, the word of the Apostle is strictly true — the time present is night! An unconverted man may not perceive it. A graceless man may not comprehend it. The blind eye sees no difference between noon and midnight. The deaf ear makes no distinction between discord and sweet music. The mortified limb has no feeling either of heat or cold.
If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.
Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
