My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.
First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.
The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to the BBC, North Korea has called the test of two new missiles on Thursday a “solemn warning” against what it described as “South Korean warmongers”. The short-range missiles were fired into the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, from Wonsan on North Korea’s east coast. Leader Kim Jong-un said his country was forced to develop weapons to “eliminate potential and direct threats”. He said the test involved a new tactical guided weapons system. Kim’s comments come after the North criticised a decision by South Korea and the US to hold military drills next month.
Second, today, under the Sign category of THE RISE OF THE KINGS OF THE EAST — According to the AFP, China outlined plans to build a modern, high-tech army in a national defence plan published Wednesday, as it accused Washington of undermining global strategic stability and warned against Taiwanese independence. The first comprehensive white paper since 2012 offers insight into the world’s largest army as it scrambles to catch up to America’s formidable firepower as tensions deepen between the two powers. The plan calls for more cutting-edge technology in the People’s Liberation Army arsenal, admitting it “still lags far behind the world’s leading militaries”. War is evolving towards “intelligent” combat, the paper says, citing a growing use of AI, big data, cloud computing and “new and high-tech military technologies based on IT”. The PLA has been focused on catching up with technology used by armed forces in the US and western Europe, and is reportedly building a third aircraft carrier as well as developing a new generation of destroyer vessels, stealth fighter jets and ballistic missiles.
Third, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, Iran successfully test-fired a Shehab-3 medium-range ballistic missile on Wednesday which flew more than 600 miles from the southern part of the country to an area outside the capital, Tehran. “We are aware of reports of a projectile launched from Iran, and have no further comment at this time,” a senior U.S. administration official said. Iran’s ballistic missile tests are a concern for the US and were not covered by the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, which is one of the reasons that US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal last year.
Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.
Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.
Our topic for today is titled “Only God Can Prophesy (Part 2)” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”
The New Testament writers were instructed by the Lord Himself regarding biblical prophecies and their fulfillment. The threefold designation — Law, Prophets, and Psalms — refers to the three major divisions of the Hebrew Bible. Jesus specifically stating that the entire Old Testament predicted the details of His life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Therefore, the preaching of the early Christian disciples was filled with references to Old Testament prophecies and their fulfillment in the person of Jesus Christ.
During His earthly ministry, Jesus was recognized as a prophet of God and a teacher from God. Jesus even referred to Himself as a prophet. The early preaching of the apostles also emphasized the prophetic nature of Christ’s ministry. Matthew’s Gospel alone makes 65 references to Old Testament Scriptures, emphasizing their fulfillment in Christ.
Lord willing, we will begin looking at “The Prophet and the Prophetic Ministry” in our next podcast.
In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.
Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 6). J.C. Ryle writes:
Let us consider, in the second place, the condition of the world which is yet to come.
The Apostle Paul calls it “day.” “The day is at hand.”
The time here spoken of is the time to which every true Christian ought to look forward, — it is the time when the Lord Jesus Christ shall come again. The present state of things in the Church of Christ shall undergo a mighty change, — a change so great that it shall be like the turning of night into day.
The world we live in is not to go on always as it does now. The darkness of sin, ignorance, and superstition is not always to cover the earth. The Sun of righteousness shall one day rise with healing in His wings. The Lord Jesus shall come again with power and great glory. He shall return as a morning without clouds, and then it shall be “day.”
There is a time coming when the devil shall be bound, and shall no longer rule in this world. Sin and all its consequences shall be cast out. The groaning creation shall at length be refreshed. The wicked shall be shut up for ever in their own place. The saints of the Most High shall at length possess the kingdom. There shall be a new heaven and a new earth, wherein shall dwell righteousness. Surely that will be “day.”
If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.
Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
