Warriors Stars, Fans Slam ‘Classless’ Raptors Fans for Cheering Kevin Durant’s Injury

As the Warriors continue to process Kevin Durant’s devastating Achilles injury from Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, most of the players are still in disbelief over the initial reaction from the Toronto crowd.

“It was bulls–t,” Golden State guard Klay Thompson seethed to reporters. “That was freaking ridiculous. I can’t even put into words how mad I was about that.”

Durant, who went down during the second quarter, was helped up by teammates as fans inside Scotiabank Arena cheered. Both Warriors and Raptors players managed to dispel the noise, which then turned into vocal support of “KD.”

“That’s crazy. That’s classless. For me I’ve always witnessed Canadians be the nicest people I’ve ever encountered and that was classless,” Warriors forward Draymond Green said.

Teammate Steph Curry also noted, “Very confused around that reaction. It’s not my experience with people of this city. I commend [Raptors players] Danny Green and Kyle Lowry for signaling to the crowd. I hope that ugliness doesn’t show itself again.”
