LISTEN: On Mary’s Command (Gospel Light Minute X #318)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #318, titled, “On Mary’s Command” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

The Gospel of Saint John tells of the marriage feast at Cana. In this passage, Mary emphasizes the importance of Jesus, her Son, and the words that He speaks.

At the marriage feast, a problem arose when they ran out of wine. Realizing that the wine was gone and she could do nothing, Mary told Jesus of the problem. She knew He was the only One Who could do something. In John 2:5, Mary commanded the servants, “…Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”

This is the only place in the Bible where it is recorded that Mary gave a command. Most certainly, we all should consider this command and obey it. Is it your desire to get to Heaven? If so, why don’t you take heed to Mary’s command and do what Jesus said.

Jesus said that He is the only One that can be your Saviour. John 14:6 says, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus did not say to trust in saints, the pope, or even His mother, Mary, to save you. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Jesus said that faith in Him is the only way to be saved. Jesus said in John 3:36, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” Jesus did not say that special sacrifices or doing good works were needed to save you. Romans 4:5 says, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

Jesus said that everlasting life is the only kind of life He gives. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Jesus did not say that it was a probationary life, which depended upon your keeping or losing it, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

Jesus said that God’s words are the only authority to follow. John 12:48 says, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” Jesus did not say that His words came from commandments or traditions of men. Mark 7:7,13 says, “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men…Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.”

Friend, you can be saved right now and know that you have eternal life. All you must do is place your complete faith in Jesus Christ, and stop relying on your good works, sacraments, church attendance, or anything else to save you. Jesus paid the penalty for your sin, and He can be your Saviour if you will believe in Him. 1 John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” The very moment you completely trust Jesus Christ to be your Saviour, you will be saved forever!

Acts 10:43 says, “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”

Romans 10:9,13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

John 3:18 states, “…he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 says, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”

If you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer:
