Kevin Durant to Practice With Warriors’ in Hopes of Playing in Game 5

Golden State star Kevin Durant is expected to practice and do an extra workout with younger players on Sunday with the hope that he can play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

“We’ll gauge it from there,” Kerr said.

Durant is listed as questionable on the NBA’s official injury report at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Durant hasn’t played in the playoffs since sustaining a strained calf in Game 5 against Houston in the Western Conference semifinals on May 8. But Kerr is hopeful for a return because “what he’s going to do today he hasn’t done. He’s doing more today and then we’ll know more after that,” Kerr said.

Durant’s availability for the Finals against Toronto has been a predominant story line with the Warriors simultaneously bracing for the idea he won’t play and thinking he can get back on the court before the series ends.
