A Forbes report out Monday says that Jay-Z is the first hip-hop artist to reach the billionaire milestone.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter (or maybe Mr. Beyoncé Knowles?), debuted his first album “Reasonable Doubt” in June 1996.
Since then, the 49-year-old has not only released 14 number one albums and accrued 22 Grammy awards, he’s also launched his own brands of clothing (Rocawear) and liquor (D’Ussé cognac), and started his own music streaming service (Tidal).
Carter also has stakes in companies like Uber and owns multiple properties.
