New York’s baseball rivalry trickled down to Class AAA over the weekend, with the Syracuse Mets and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees affiliate) having multiple-benches clearing incidents.
On Sunday, RailRiders designated hitter Mike Ford hit a solo home run off Mets reliever Arquimedes Caminero in the seventh inning. The next batter, Breyvic Valera, got plunked on the first pitch and Caminero was immediately ejected.

Words were exchanged between the teams, particularly Mets infielder Danny Espinosa and the RailRiders’ Logan Morrison, both big-league veterans. The benches and bullpens emptied and a scrum broke out near first base.
Among the peacekeepers? Mets outfielder Tim Tebow, who could be seen trying to separate some of the players in the fracas.
