LeBron James is used to preparing for the NBA Finals at this time of year, but with his Los Angeles Lakers failing to make the playoffs, the King is defeating opponents wherever he can find them.

James posted a video on his Instagram over the weekend showing him beating a 14-year-old kid who appeared to challenge him to a three-point shooting contest.

Gabe Cupps, who is a teammate of James’s son, LeBron ‘Bronny’ James Jr, challenged the former MVP and three-time world champion to a shootout.

Cupps and ‘Bronny’ play for the North Coast Blue Chips of the Amateur Athletic Union.

The Blue Chips defeated the West Coast Warriors at the Los Angeles Classic Tournament on Saturday 53-26, according to Bleacher Report.

During an informal shooting session, however, James said that Cupps ‘called him out.’

‘I got called out by my guy and in my opinion the best shooter (he can do more too) for the Class of 2023 @gcupps23 today,’ James wrote on his Instagram account.

‘Told him about a certain switch I can hit when needed and he didn’t believe me.

‘Well he found out the hard way!’

James added: ‘Still my guy Cupps nevertheless.’

In the video, James and Cupps each make their first three three-point shots.

But on the fourth try, Cupps misses. James, however, sinks his. He then walks to the sidelines and gives a look toward Cupps as if to mock him for ever thinking he could challenge the King.
