Anthony Mundine has branded the sacking of Israel Folau ‘racist’ as he joined former teammates of the sacked Wallaby in sharing messages of support online.
The controversial boxer and political commentator criticised the tearing up of Folau’s $4million contract.
Mundine said Folau was unfairly penalised for quoting the Bible.
He also expressed his outrage that someone like Senator Fraser Anning, who has been accused of racism against Muslims, could keep their job when Folau was fired.
Folau’s teammates have also voiced their heartbreak, saying that rugby had lost a good player and a good man.
‘That’s how racist this county is that Izzy Folau can be sacked for quoting a scripture from the bible! Mundine said on Facebook.
‘But Fraser Anning can so what the hell he wants with his foul month & still have a job.
