Turkish Election Board Rejects Request for Recount in 31 Istanbul Districts

Turkey’s High Election Board has rejected a request by the ruling AK Party for all votes to be recounted in 31 of Istanbul’s 39 districts, the AKP’s representative on the board Recep Ozel said on Tuesday.

Ozel told reporters after an election board meeting that the board had decided to call for a recount of a total 51 ballot boxes in 21 districts of the city, where a local election on March 31 handed a slim majority to the main opposition party.
