NYPD Detective Shot Dead in Queens After T-Mobile Armed Robbery Suspect Opens Fire; Police Sergeant Wounded

An NYPD detective was killed Monday evening and another police officer was injured after a suspect in an armed robbery opened fire, a senior police official told The Daily Beast. Police have urged the public to avoid the area of Atlantic Ave & 120th Street in Queens after the incident, which reportedly happened as the detective and officer were investigating reports of a robbery at a T-Mobile cellphone store. The suspect was reportedly shot when officers returned fire and has been taken into custody. Police have yet to identify the slain detective and injured officer, both of whom were transported to Jamaica Hospital.
