Sunday is here and with it comes the bulk of the schedule for Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season. There are a number of great matchups on tap today, including at least one must-see showdown in every time slot.
The Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers co-headline a flurry of eight kickoffs at 1 p.m. ET, as these two perennial contenders are already fighting for their playoff lives in what has become a critical game in the early portion of the new campaign. The other notable early contest involves the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the Kansas City Chiefs for a Week 5 battle that could play a key role in shaping the top of the AFC at the end of the season. Later in the afternoon, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings will clash in a rematch of a lopsided NFC Championship game. Both of these teams are trying to return to their 2017 form after slumping out of the gate this year, making this a must-watch bout.
All eyes will be on the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans tonight, when the two Texas squads meet on Sunday Night Football. This primetime affair ratcheted up in intensity last week, when both the Cowboys and Texans were able to rally for come-from-behind wins in the final moments of their respective games. Oddsmakers are expecting another close contest tonight, installing the Texans as slight, three-point favorites against their in-state rivals. Neither team has played particularly well over the first month of the season, with Dallas (2-2) performing only slightly better than Houston (1-3) at this juncture. Both sides are coming into tonight desperate for another “W”, something that each needs to keep up in their competitive divisions.
Will the Texans keep their momentum going after last week’s big overtime victory, or will the Cowboys find a way to string together wins for the first time in 2018 with an upset on the road? Pro handicapper Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com has a take on this Sunday Night Football showdown that you will not want to miss.
