Ohio State President Says Investigation of Urban Meyer Will Be ‘Finished When It’s Finished’

Ohio State president Michael Drake said the university’s investigation of football coach Urban Meyer will be “finished when it’s finished” in his first public comments on the matter during a radio interview on Thursday. Drake will have the final say on Meyer’s future.

The university released a statement Aug. 5 specifying that an expected conclusion date on the investigation was Aug. 19. But as the two-week mark nears, Drake addressed the school’s deadline as more of a “projected goal” while adding that things are “moving at pace” and to “stay tuned.”

“What we’re thinking of is doing a good investigation,” Drake said during an interview on the Columbus-based WOSU radio show, All Sides with Ann Fisher. “There’s a great deal of interest in this investigation, so we wanted to make sure we had really good information. And there’s time pressure, we wanted to make sure we have that information as quickly as possible … about two weeks.

“The most important thing is to get the right information so that we can make the best decisions going forward.”
