One week removed from the Eastern League All-Star Game, Tim Tebow will be shelved temporarily with a hand injury.
The New York Mets prospect and former Heisman Trophy winner landed on the disabled list for the first time in his baseball career.
Tebow, batting .273 with six homers in Class AA, was removed from Thursday’s minor-league game in the seventh inning with discomfort in his right hand/wrist.
“It’s a hand/wrist thing,” Binghamton Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas told reporters Thursday. “I think there was one swing where he let go the bottom hand and the top hand finished his swing. He said that he felt something there. We don’t know right now.”
