Forget the money. David Johnson is more concerned about Jesus.
The Arizona Cardinals running back, who went All-Pro with more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage in 2016, is due for a new contract. Now that he’s back to full health and Todd Gurley’s cashed in big, that’s even more apparent.
And yet, when a reporter asked this weekend if Johnson was “trying to send a message” about his contract desires with a T-shirt reading “Approved,” the Pro Bowler informed the media of the truth.

“No, I like this shirt,” he said with a laugh, explaining that he got it as gift from Christian rapper KB.
Johnson’s “Approved” shirt is part of KB’s His Glory Alone merchandise, which highlights “personal devotion to God.” And the shirt’s backside includes, in full, Philippians 2:1-11, which speaks of having “encouragement from being united with Christ,” prompts believers to “have the same mindset as Christ Jesus” and prophesies that “every tongue (will) acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
