Gray will be taking over the leadership of Greenville’s Redemption Church in May when Carpenter moves to San Jose, California, to take over for retiring pastor Dick Bernal at the Jubilee Christian Center. The preacher moves were announced to the three congregations in early December.
Redemption is one of South Carolina’s largest churches. Founded in 1991 with just three attendees, it has grown into a megachurch with more than 20,000 members and a campus off Haywood Road.
