A nervous Prince George arrived for his first day of school with his father, Prince William after Kate Middleton was too unwell to attend.
It can be an overwhelming occasion for any child and the little Prince looked a little shy as he was led into Thomas’s Battersea by the Duke of Cambridge.
The pair were met in the playground by the Head of the Lower School, Helen Haslem.
George managed to offer a handshake to his new teacher but kept his eyes on the ground, refusing to let his father too far out of his sight.
The Duke then took his son inside to the reception classroom.
Kensington Palace tweeted just after 8am this morning that the young Prince would be accompanied on the school run by his father, the Duke of Cambridge.
Pregnant Kate was unable to attend the first day of school with her son after it was confirmed earlier this week that she is suffering from the same severe morning sickness which affected her previous two pregnancies.
Kate was also forced to pull out of Royal duties earlier this week, as she battles hyperemesis gravidarum.
It is a severe and sometimes life-threatening illness which affects pregnant mothers.
George will be attending Thomas’s Battersea, a fee-paying independent school in south London.
