An 8-year-old girl sitting on a couch inside a South Carolina apartment was killed by a stray bullet fired during an outside gang-related shooting, authorities say.
Kamryn Montana Lamya Bradley was struck at about 1 a.m. Sunday after several shots were fired into an apartment in Gaffney, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office officials told the Charlotte Observer.
“The victim was seated on a sofa in the apartment when the bullet penetrated the window and struck her in the head,” said Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler. “This is another tragic, senseless loss of life at the hands of gang-related activity, this time an 8-year-old child. It has to stop.”
The girl died at a local hospital about 90 minutes later, Fowler said.
No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
