Many Churches are Ignoring the Important Command to Give

The modern day church is holding back when it comes to giving.

Relevant Magazine recently shared the statistics–and they’re pretty guilt provoking.

  • Tithers make up only 10-25 percent of a normal congregation.
  • Only 5 percent of the U.S. tithes, with 80 percent of Americans giving only 2 percent of their income.
  • Christians are only giving at 2.5 percent per capita, while during the Great Depression they gave at a 3.3 percent rate.

Those numbers aren’t good–but instead of dwelling on that, think about what would happen if all believers simply gave a minimum of 10 percent of their income. According to Relevant, that would would an additional $165 billion for churches do use and distribute.
