Your move, Snapchat.
Photo-sharing service Instagram, engaged in a battle with Snapchat over the attention of younger smartphone owners, rolled out an update Tuesday allowing users to add stickers and record “hands-free” video.
The video feature isn’t fully “hands-free.” Users still need to tap a button to start recording video. But it’s a step up from Snapchat, which requires users to hold down the record button while they shoot clips to share with friends.
The update is available now on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
Instagram has aggressively updated its app with features matching Snapchat, the messaging app popular among young smartphone users. Snapchat says it reaches 41% of all 18- to 34-year-olds in the U.S.
